Aerospace Case Study:
Client: Helicopter Manufacturer
Challenge: The transportation of several helicopters directly to Uruguay, requiring the helicopters to fly into the terminal amidst tight security. The client also required that the designated landing area and its preparation sites not interfere with other daily terminal operations.
Solution: RTM choreographed the fly-in procedure between our client, the terminal and port security. Leveraging our experience at other ports with the same requirements, we arranged to land the helicopters directly onto MAFI trailers. By doing this we avoided the need to hire a crane to lift and place the helicopters on the MAFIs later, which posed a greater risk for damage. The process entailed staging MAFI trailers side-by-side to form a “landing pad.”
Results: We created a much less expensive solution for the client by arranging all the logistics for fly-in delivery as opposed to delivering by conventional road transport. The result – a very satisfied customer.
Agriculture Shipment Case Study:
Client: Agricultural Machinery Manufacturer
Challenge: The client required the shipment of newly built 38x bulk-feed trailers for a large Saudi agricultural company. The client had a specific and pressing delivery deadline.
Solution: RTM leveraged our network to identify the appropriate vessels available to ensure we met the delivery deadline. We then worked with the client to synchronize the trailers’ completed production with sailing schedules.
Results: Because of our approach to coordinate product production with shipment, we were able to meet delivery commitments for all parties involved.
Automotive Shipment Case Study:
Client: Prominent Defense Contractor
Challenge: The client required the export and import of sensitive equipment for an important overseas military trade show. Classified as licensed military cargo, the shipment required RTM to work with multiple international government agencies in order to obtain the appropriate licenses for the transit of the cargo through multiple countries.
Solution: Leveraging our relationships and previous experience working with military cargo, we were able to streamline the multi-agency approval processes, quickly securing multiple government approvals for the transit of the cargo.
Results: Rapid government approval meant that RTM was able to execute the shipment via ocean transport at a cost to the client that was far less expensive than airfreight. Our ability to streamline these processes won RTM the additional assignment to reimport the cargo to the U.S.
Construction Shipment Case Study:
Client: Crane Manufacturer
Challenge: The client required the ocean transportation of a super-sized mobile crane with 38 related static/loose parts. To add further complexity, the parts were in a large quantity and were not capable of all being delivered to the terminal at same time due to the requirement to arrange special permits for some of these parts. This presented a situation where there was potential difficulty in maintaining the exact piece count.
Solution: RTM used dedicated personnel to keep an exact inventory of all components as they arrived. We then arranged to load the cargo in a proper sequence for assembly of the mobile crane unit. RTM managed all communications and complex documentation requirements between the manufacturer, the supplier and necessary port personnel.
Results: We were able to ensure that the recipient received all mobile unit pieces together in perfect working condition.
Industrial Shipment Case Study:
Client: Crane Manufacturer
Challenge: TClient required the shipment of six feed water heaters weighing between 110,000 and 160,000 pounds per piece, including 18 pieces of related parts.
Solution: Drawing upon RTM’s high and heavy cargo experience, we arranged the shipping equipment needed for these unique cargo requirements. We carefully coordinated port crane schedules with delivery schedules to ensure timely loading, unloading, and delivery.
Results: Our customer service team was able to meet the shipper’s delivery requirements and provided the appropriate documentation/certificates required by all parties. The shipment was executed well within the letter of credit terms and conditions.
Mining Industry Shipment Case Study:
Client: Mining Equipment Manufacturer
Challenge: Facing a pressing deadline for a project in Morocco, the client required that complex phosphate-mining equipment be transported for arrival at a Moroccan destination despite component parts originating in both the U.S. and Germany.
Solution: RTM arranged simultaneous delivery to loading ports Bremerhaven and Baltimore. From both ports of origin, we coordinated vessel sailings for arrival at the same time at the Casablanca destination.
Results: RTM ensured that the equipment arrived in Morocco in a timely fashion, achieving a critical delivery deadline.
Oil & Gas Shipment Case Study:
Client: Oil & Gas Equipment Manufacturer
Challenge: The client required the shipment of several pieces of oversized cargo originating in Alberta, CA, but requiring a vessel only available out of the U.S. Gulf.
Solution: RTM developed a detailed logistics plan for transporting oil & gas pumps by arranging overland transport with special escort services from the Canadian plant to the Gulf Port, where we arranged for shipment and final delivery to Singapore.
Results: Using the knowledge gained from previous experience and industry-leading logistics services, we were able to save the client significant costs, which would have escalated had the client attempted to charter a vessel for the cargo from the Canadian West Coast.
